Challenge
As a Product Manager at MyCamper, I contributed to building a two-sided marketplace that connects hosts and renters of camping vehicles. Guided by the vision of making camping accessible and promoting sustainable resource use, I focused on enhancing user experience and optimizing platform features to create value for both sides of the marketplace.
Goal:
Increase booking request conversions to boost GMV and reduce user drop-off.
Key Insights:
Only 31% of renters re-attempt booking if their request is rejected.
Hosts frequently decline requests due to outdated calendars and lack of responsiveness.
Solutions & Features:
Search & Sorting: Prioritized vehicles with higher acceptance rates so users see reliable hosts first.
Host Response Policy: Updated the vehicle overview and detail pages to seamlessly display campsite options, reducing user friction.
Auto-Reply to Renters: Sent clear rejection reasons and encouraged renters to rebook another vehicle. Calendar Updates: Prompted hosts to update availability immediately after declining a request.
Results:
Boosted booking conversion rate from 30% to 70%.
Deactivated over 120 non-responsive hosts.
Increased renter NPS by 21 points.
Learnings & Next Steps:
Educating hosts on the importance of accurate calendars is critical.
Future plan: Integrate notifications and incentives to maintain updated listings more consistently.
My Role:
Responsible for the host side of the marketplace. Ideation, data analysis and coordinating actions with customer support. Overseeing design adaptions and acted as product owner for the prioritization of tickets.
